Description

Goniopora sp.

This Is a Great first Goni, or if you love Goniopora, but can’t seem to keep them, this one is for you!

Red Branching Goniopora grows in a branching formation, rathe rtthan the usual Ball shape.

Aquacultured and tank hardy. we’ve had this one 4+ years in culture. This strain has seen alk swings, high nutrients, completely bottomed out nutrients, temperatures as high at 82F, and as low as 73F. And countless other stressors, and it always bounces back. At one point, several frags bleached completely white for a few months due to phosphate deficiency, and not one was lost before they were nursed back from the brink.

Feeding this one is optional. it will do better, and grow faster, but food isn’t needed to do well.

Very fine particle food. (think dust) I use cheap, baker’s yeast and the smallest size “Golden pearls” larval fish food. anything larger does not seem to produce a feeding response, but rather an annoyance response.

Outside of normal water conditions, to keep this coral thriving, keep magnesium between 1300-1400ppm, potassium over 400ppm and detectable po4. Otherwise, not much else will upset this coral.

Ensure adequate PAR. somewhere around 150 umol/m².
The only special products to keep this coral thriving would be regualr water changes with a top quality salt mix, or dosing with minor and trace elements with ICP testing done at regular intervals. the only thing commonly neglected that will have a significant impact is Potassium. Iron, Zinc, Iodine and manganense do not seem to be important to this strain, neither is regular feeding. Those things will improve growth rates, but are not neccessary for it to grow and do well.
